“The Sleepy Hollow Experience” Returns to Old Sturbridge Village
200th anniversary of legendary tale, tickets now on sale to public
The Sleepy Hollow Experience returns to Old Sturbridge Village (OSV) this fall, with shows running Wednesday through Sunday, Sept. 27 through Nov. 3, 2019. The interactive, musical-theatre-style, outdoor experience is the village’s most popular fall event, reimagining Washington Irving’s legendary tale using the historic village as its haunting backdrop.
In collaboration with Director and Producer Brian Clowdus and cast, performances will be held at the Museum Education buildings, starting in the evenings at 7:30 p.m. with additional shows at 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Visitors will be ghoulishly guided through the village’s countryside as they encounter familiar figures like Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones, and even the Headless Horseman himself. Performances last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and include periods of walking and standing.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the legend of Sleepy Hollow. Guests are invited to celebrate with the show that has been called “one of the country’s top five Halloween plays” by American Theatre Magazine and immerse themselves in the spooky tale. Arrive early to dine on soups, stew, and chowder in the transformed Ichabod’s Tavern, or purchase sweets and libations prior to the show and during intermission. Overnight accommodations are available after the event at the Old Sturbridge Village Inn and Reeder Family Lodges for guests who want to extend their visit. Promo code “Ichabod19” can be used to save $20 on overnight bookings on show nights.
For guests attending the show, Sleepy Hollow Experience tickets can also be used for 10% off Old Sturbridge Village’s Prime Rib Feast on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The feast is open to the public, held in the Oliver Wight Tavern inside the village. Tickets from any show can be used to reserve a seat for any Prime Rib dinner during the months of September through November.
Tickets for The Sleepy Hollow Experience are on sale to the public now at: www.osv.org/event/sleepy-hollow. Ticket pricing varies based on date of attendance and must be purchased in advance for the exact date and showtime. Show dates may be rescheduled due to heavy rain or inclement weather. Often described as a “thrilling” or “haunting” theatrical experience, this show is not recommended for those under the age of 10.
