The Sturbridge Rotary Club has embarked on an exciting journey with the goal of establishing itself as the most recognizable and desirable public service organizations in the region. The Club, which has become an integral contributor to the community throughout its 42-year history, has recently participated in a “Club Visioning” meeting. From this meeting a strategic plan has been developed which includes a vision of what Sturbridge Rotary wants to accomplish over the next three years, and what needs to be done to get there.
The Club is already well known for its many regional and international activities which include the funding of scholarships for Tantasqua and Shepherd Hill students, sponsorship of literacy projects, donation of Thanksgiving baskets, participation in the United Way Day of Caring, donation of a NICview camera to the UMass Medical Center, donation of medical equipment to the University Hospital in Pristina, Kosovo, and the maintenance of the Rotary Park on Main Street in Sturbridge.
Rotary’s plan to develop an enhanced prominence in the area includes additional outreach programs to the youth, elderly, and economically disadvantaged. This outreach will include new high profile fundraising events that are currently in the works, which the Club plans to introduce over the next several months.
The implementation of this dynamic new vision will require an expansion of membership. Towards this end, the Club will be sponsoring an Open House information meeting for potential new members. This Open House is scheduled for April 28th, at 6:00 P.M. at the Publick House in Sturbridge. The Club is looking for energetic community-minded individuals who are looking for an opportunity to network with community leaders and give back a little of what has been given to us. If you are interested in joining the Sturbridge Rotary Club at its Open House information meeting, please contact the Club secretary through its newly updated website at http://sturbridgerotary.org. Bring your appetite for a great Publick House Dinner!
