A renowned historical fiction writer, Sally Cabot Gunning has authored The Widow's War, The Rebellion of Jane Clarke, and more. Her latest book, Benjamin Franklin's Bastard, brings to life a little-known chapter of the American Revolution-the story of Benjamin Franklin and his bastard son, and the women who loved them both.
Called "spellbinding reading" by Booklist and "intriguing historical fiction" by Kirkus Reviews, the book tells the story of William Franklin, who was born in secret to his father's favorite mistress, and raised by Benjamin Franklin's wife. Benjamin's bastard son became Royal Governor of New Jersey, and despite his father's passionate defense of the patriot cause, he remained a steadfast loyal subject.
The evening includes a reception with light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Doors open at 6:00 p.m and the speaker will begin at 7:00 p.m.
