Free admission and a special gift for moms (while supplies last) on Mother's Day at Old Sturbridge Village, with family events planned throughout the day, including a "Moms vs. Kids" tug-o-war.
Visit the Village households and craftshops to learn about parenting in the 19th-century. See the tinsmith make a baby rattle, the potter make a basin for potty training. Learn about cooking for children and hear performances of Songs for Mothers and Children.
Take a Curator's Tour of A Child's World exhibit. Vote for the "Best Mother in History" from a list of mothers with famous children born in the 1830s.
In addition, there will be advice from Lydia Maria Child, author of the 19th-century best seller "The Mother's Book" and a visit with 1830s midwife Lucy Tucker.
You can also make reservations for a special Mother's Day Brunch at the Oliver Wight Tavern at OSV.
