Nicholas Yarter is a 16 year-old Sturbridge resident and incoming junior at Tantasqua Sr. High who sustained a catastrophic spinal cord injury in a swimming pool accident on May 9th which has left him paralyzed from the chest down. After spending 13 days in ICU and undergoing multiple surgeries at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, he was flown to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, where he has been receiving additional medical care and intensive rehabilitation. In order for Nick to return to MA, the family home will require extensive modifications to accommodate his limitations. Nick will also need various specialized medical equipment and a personal care assistant. The monies raised by this fundraiser will help defray the costs of these expenses.
