On June 18, 2013 Lauren and Nathan Hand received the news that their three year old son, Grayson Hand, was diagnosed with High Risk ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). As you can imagine, this news was devastating to the Hands as they realized that their lives had changed drastically in just an instant. The life of their sweet little boy was being threatened by an enemy named Cancer, and they were in for the fight of their lives.
Lauren Hand is employed by Savers Bank and Nathan Hand is employed by Harrington Memorial Hospital. Due to the extensive medical treatments their son Grayson will endure, Lauren has taken a leave of absence from her employment. Along with the stress of this disease comes the cost of treatments for a cancer patient. These costs can average up to a million dollars a year, which the Hands will be partially responsible for. Grayson will need at least four years of extensive treatments.
Family, friends, coworkers and loved ones have rallied around the Hand Family and will hold a benefit on October 5, 2013 at La Salle Reception Center (sponsored by Blessed John Paul II Parish) located in Southbridge, MA. The proceeds from this benefit will help the Hand family with the overwhelming cost of treatments during a time of severely decreased family income.
We are kindly asking for your support in making this benefit a successful one. There are several ways that you can help. Please see the enclosed flyer for information on how you can become a helping hand in Grayson’s fight with Leukemia. Choose one or more options to lend your support, and return the flyer to us at the address provided. Thank you so much for your support!
