Join the Southbridge Recreational Photography Club and enjoy a six-week adventure with you and fellow camera enthusiasts. No need to be an expert and no need to have a top-of-the-line camera. Just bring what you’ve got and enjoy yourself.
The Photography Club will be led by Shelley Wells and will meet every other Saturday, beginning April 21, one hour each week, for six weeks. You will meet at the Jacob Edwards Library on Main Street, but don’t get comfortable! Weather permitting you will head somewhere different each week:
Week 1: Scenic Photography – Head to parts of the town where nature and scenic views abound, such as Westville Recreation Area and the scenic walkway along river near West Street Field.
Week 2: Portrait Photography – You’ll photograph people (feel free to bring your family and friends to this one! Find different places to photograph them. Be creative!
Week 3: Action Photography – You’ll head to where the action is and take live shots.
Week 4: Correcting Your Photos – You’ll work on and learn how to make those photos look a little (maybe even a lot) better! You’ll perform photo-cropping and other techniques designed to enhance your photos.
Week 5: What To Do with Your Photos – Ok, so you’ve taken some amazing photos and you’re proud of them. But what to do with them? That’s what you’ll talk about and do here. From scrapbooking to online posting on such forums as Facebook, there’s a lot you can do!
Week 6: “Show and Tell” – This is where it’s all worth it. You will invite family and friends to your own showing of the photos you’ve snapped. It will be held at Jacob Edwards Library. And, yes, we’ll make sure those guests have some refreshments.
Six weeks (that’s six total hours) of photography bliss: all for just $50 per person. It’s a price you simply won’t find anywhere else.
This is a learn-and-do-as-you-go club. You won’t be sitting still. And you can bring a friend with you to any of the classes for just $15 each (Children under 12 will not be charged)
The Southbridge Recreational Photography Club is the perfect activity for the novice photographer, or even someone a little more advanced, to hang with others and share your craft. Whether you’re a teenager, a 20-something, a retiree looking for something new to try or somewhere in between, you are welcome to join.
