Hitchcock Academy Offers Genealogy Classes

Dave Robison, President of the New England Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, offers classes at Hitchcock Free Academy.

Dave is a member of numerous genealogical associations as well, and a panelist on the live international broadcast, “Mondays with Myrt” which highlights trends in genealogy, updates in technology, genealogical standards and other related issues.  He is co-editor of “Western Massachusetts Roots Events,” a monthly e-newsletter of genealogy events in the 4 Western Mass counties.  Additionally, he volunteers weekly at the Chicopee Public Library’s Genealogy Center and coaches genealogy research techniques for WMGS at the Agawam Senior Center.

Back by popular demand is Dave’s “Introduction to Genealogy and Family Research” class at Hitchcock Free Academy in Brimfield on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 – 8pm, starting January 20.  Another session will be offered starting March 24, and there are four classes in each session.  Participants will learn how to get started on their genealogy hunt – what documents to look for and where to find them – and how to create pedigree charts and the basics of expanding them.  Dave will also discuss what the best websites are for research and how to explore them.
