Town of Sturbridge: Conservation Commission
The time has come to decorate our Winter Trees!
The Sturbridge Conservation collaborating with the Recreation Department is presenting our 11th Annual Winter Tree Scavenger Hunt, located on the Heins’ Farm Property Trails. We are looking for support from the Town Departments and additional community organizations/businesses to take a walk and decorate a tree along our trails for our young searchers to find! The event encourages the use of our open space properties and family fun outdoor recreation!
Kids will be asked to pick up a trail map and follow the trails to locate trees. Once they find a tree, we are asking to take a selfie with the tree and post your picture on the Town of Sturbridge Recreation Facebook Page or email email@example.com. All pictures received will be entered in a drawing for a small prize.
We will be asking that you please inform us of your participation by November 25th so we can finalize our flyers. We are also asking that trees be decorated by December 1st so the program can run for the whole month of December.
PLEASE feel free to pass this on to other organizations who might be interested in participating. Our goal is to get 20 decorated trees this year!
If you are no longer the correct recipient for a school, Scout Troop, club, or other organization, please let me know or pass this on to the correct person.
Once we have a finalized list, we will send out our flyer advertising the event. Please feel free to share our flyer with friends. This flyer will also be posted on our departmental web page and on Facebook.
Let me know of your plan to participate this year by November 25th, and be sure to send us a photo of your tree when you’re finished decorating it! Don’t forget to take down your tree after the event. We can assist if needed!
I know it sounds like a lot but it is a fun event for all! Please help make our 11th year a success! Please remember to follow all COVID-19 safety precautions. For questions, please contact the Sturbridge Conservation Department at (508) 347-2506.
