Worcester, MA—The Charitable Donations Committee (CDC) of Cornerstone Bank is proud to announce its recent donation of $40,000 to the Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC). This major financial contribution will go toward assisting local residents with home heating costs this winter.

WCAC is a Worcester-based agency for Central Massachusetts, dedicated to helping people move toward economic self-sufficiency through programs, partnerships, and advocacy. Winter can mean additional stress for some as they try to find ways to afford their heating bills and keeping their family warm. WCAC’s Fuel Assistance Program is designed to provide relief to those individuals and families that are most vulnerable to the high costs associated with heating.

“The Worcester Community Action Council is a vital organization that helps people gain economic self-sufficiency,” stated Cornerstone Bank Chairman & CEO K. Michael Robbins. “We are pleased to support such a worthwhile organization and assist our local community where they need it most this time of year.”

WCAC is also responsible for helping to fund community initiatives including: Head Start, Early Head Start, Healthy Families of Southern Worcester County, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), and Youth Jobs & Education. For more information about the WCAC, visit them online at www.wcac.net or by calling 508-754-1176.
