Are you looking for a unique way to spend Valentine’s Day weekend with your loved one? Perhaps trade flowers and chocolates for hammers and nails? Or, if you are currently single, are you interested in working side-by-side with other single men and women that share a common interest? Maybe start a new relationship? Here’s a way to do that while making a hands-on difference in your community.
Join us for Habitat for Humanity – MetroWest/Greater Worcester’s Valentine’s Day Build, inviting local couples and singles to work in two separate shifts dedicated to encouraging you to “put your heart into it.” You will work side-by-side with a special couple – Kim & Randy, the Habitat’s new Sturbridge homeowners, and raise funds to finish their home at 79 Fairview Park Road, all while learning new skills, meeting others and having fun!
The build day will have two separate shifts - the first shift for couples and the second shift for singles – working in groups of 20 participants each (9 am – 1 pm and noon - 4 pm), with both groups meeting together at noon for a catered lunch, networking and prizes for the top fundraisers!
The suggested minimum pledge goal for each Valentine’s Day Build participant is $100. Meeting the $100 fundraising minimum will be easier than you think! Here are a few suggestions to get you started.
And just like that, by asking just 8 people you have at least $100 – EASY! Imagine if you asked folks for $15 or $25! Registration for this event is limited to the first 20 participants for each shift on a first-come, first served basis. Reservations must be made in advance by either registering online at: http://gwhfh.volunteerhub.com or by calling Dawn Hines, Resource Development Officer, at 508-799-9259.
The mission of Habitat’s Valentine’s Day Build program is to work together to build simple, decent, affordable homes for low-income families in need of a safe place to live. When you put your heart into it, you will feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment and pride in giving back to the community.
Proceeds from the Valentine’s Day Build will fund construction costs for the Sturbridge Habitat Project at 79 Fairview Park Road.
Since this exciting opportunity is offered to the first 10 couples in the morning and the first 20 single people in the afternoon, please make your reservations early and gather your pledges! Encourage your friends and co-workers to join you as well. We look forward to seeing you at the build site on February 11.
