The Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield, MA held its first Farmers’ Dinner in September of 2014 and it was such a hit that there will be a series of them held during the gardening season for 2015. The inspiration for the menus are based on what is growing in the gardens just steps from the kitchen. Chef Laurent keeps tabs on what is growing daily and tailors his menus around what he sees in front of him. The herbs and vegetables are grown by Jonathan Cook, John Salem and Bo Salem. It’s a group effort! When beef is used as the entrée, it is beef raised right here by David Salem of Salem Cross Farms. Whatever isn’t grown at the Salem Cross Inn farm is locally sourced for a delicious, fresh, and memorable meal. Informal garden tours will be offered and there will be a demonstration by one of the chefs who will share some cooking tips.
Dates for these dinners are September 2 (featuring braised short ribs), and September 23 (featuring lamb shank).
The menus will be posted on www.salemcrossinn.com about 1 month in advance but, as everyone knows, Mother Nature rules so they are subject to change!
