Old Sturbridge Village will go from hooves to hubcaps as it highlights an array of vintage vehicles, starting with the museum's second annual Antique Car Rally on Saturday, June 2, followed by its first-ever Antique Horse-Drawn Carriage Rally on Sunday, June 3. Each rally is set for 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., and the highlight of both events will be a grand procession of the antique vehicles (cars at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday; carriages at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday).
The vehicles will parade around the OSV Common, through the countryside and over the Village's historic covered bridge. Nearly 100 antique cars and carriages will be on display during the weekend. Old Sturbridge Village offers free second day admission within 10 days, so visitors who pay to attend the Antique Car Rally may attend the Antique Carriage Rally for free. For more information, call 1-800-SEE-1830 or visit www.osv.org
When Old Sturbridge Village first opened in 1946, visitors toured the living history museum in their cars. To commemorate those early days, the Antique Car Rally will focus on pre-1946 automobiles. Entrants include rare vehicles like a 1908 Locomobile, a 1912 Oakland Roadster, a 1921 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, a 1922 Hupmobile, a 1941 Fleetwood Cadillac, and many Ford coupes, cabriolets, sedans, and station wagons from the 1920s and 1930s.
